New Age Kanto - Events recap
Day 0:
- Beginner trainers receive their starter Pokemon from Professor Blue Oak. A week later is orientation day, where you watch a video of the Championship match between (now-Champion) Lilith and (now Former) Champion Lance. Your journey begins.
- Max Press gets fed up with his easily-distracted teammates and abandons them to continue his Journey alone.
- Kyo To finds himself recalled home by his mother, who finds herself in need of his help at home; reluctantly forcing him to abandon his Journey before it can truly begin.
Day 1:
- Now alone, Jolyne "JoJo" Joyce travels on to Viridian City, where she meets Trainer Vincent Roth, of Cherrygrove City in Johto. The two agree to group up for safety, and join the Bug-Catching Contest together. There, they meet Jax the Juggler.
- Jax wins 2nd place at the Contest with a Beautifly. JoJo gets third place, and Vince is left with a consolation prize. They spend a little more time in the Forest, catching Wilds.
Day 2:
- The trio participates in the Viridian Amateur Trainers Tournament, which Vince wins by default when Musician Samantha withdraws after her uncontrollable Noibat nearly kills Firestarter Ashley's Cyndaquil.
Day 3:
- Jax is revealed to be a Ditto masquerading as a Pokemon Trainer! Vince and JoJo meet Chef Peppers LeSpice and his Meowth, who apparently had his mask and possessions stolen by 'The Ditto Formerly Known as Jax'. He releases the Abra and Zangoose that Jax had obtained, and the two are still lurking out in the Wilds between Routes 1 and 22 someplace (assuming Abra didn't teleport elsewhere).
- Chef Peppers joins the party, and they decide to explore Viridian Forest some more.
- JoJo decides that the battling scene just isn't for her and departs, returning to Pallet to make a name for herself through fashion rather than combat. JoJo leaves the party.
- Vince and Peppers are ambushed in Viridian Forest by Valisilwen and her Pokemon. Peppers' Meowth is defeated handily and he flees the scene, foisting all of his possessions (Pokemon included!) into the arms of the first person he finds.
- After being roused by a passing Pokemon Ranger, Vincent makes his way back towards Viridian City, where he bumps into Eric Thompkins, the fortunate (or not so fortunate) soul that Peppers gave all his stuff to.
Day 4:
- Vince and Eric press on through Viridian Forest first thing in the morning, bumping into Bug Catcher Dan just inside Pewter City. He cautions the pair about the Gym's change in Type Theme as well as the Sandstorm that is present during battles.
- After an hour or two of capturing Pokemon on Route 2, the two boys heal up and head for Pewter Gym, where they are greeted by Gym Trainer Juri; daughter of Leader Nekura. She kindly informs them of how the two types of Challenge (Basic or Advanced) work, and what they can expect along the path to the Leader. She also cautions that some Gyms in Kanto don't offer the 'Basic' Challenge. While both opt to take the Advanced Challenge, Vincent goes first, eager to claim his first badge.
- Vincent succeeds in earning his badge after a difficult battle against the Leader, but Eric inevitably went home to Viridian for his own reasons.
- Vincent meets Lia Regal, his soon-to-be traveling companion #4, just outside of the Gym. When asked, he does offer a smidgen of advice for taking on the Gym. Despite this, she is knocked out of the running early by Gym Trainer Juri.
- After some chit-chat, the pair is approached by another newbie trainer, who also happens to be brand new to the region (not unlike themselves). He asks for and is granted directions to Pewter Gym after introductions are made. After a bit more talky-talk, Floyd decides on scouring Route 3 for some extra Pokemon that could help him win at the Gym.
- Lia and Vince caught some new Pokemon as well, and once the healing and naming part was out of the way, they spar at a local public battle arena. Naturally, Vincent won. After the match, Floyd returns, and the trio somehow become a team without actually talking about it. Something unspoken passed between them, and they all ended up traveling together after Pewter.
- While Vince went off in search of more fights, Floyd and Lia had a sparring match. Lia 'technically' won, as her Golett defeated the last of Floyd's Pokemon. After the post-match healing, Floyd and Lia march off towards the mountain, inadvertently (or perhaps purposefully) angering a pack of Growlithe, which leads to a fight with the Pack Leader, an Arcanine.
- Eventually Vince comes across this battle, along with a brother and sister who were watching the fight from afar. He eventually challenges them and loses, though it's a close match clinched only by Rob's Snorlax using Rest and a Chesto Berry.
- At some point, Floyd battled Gym Trainer Ayame of Saffron. After using him as a bit of training for her weaker Pokemon, she encourages him to come visit the Saffron Gym at some point.
- Lia has a nasty run-in with some shady-types that were trying to snag some runaway girl that kinda looked like she had zoroark features. Lia dubs them 'sand ninjas' because... they kinda look like ninjas, and Pewter has a thing for sand? Who really knows what goes through Lia's head anyway? During this encounter, Lia discovered the first 'Delta Pokemon', though nobody knew it was called that, only that it was a pokemon with all the wrong typings. In this case, a Grass/Steel Noibat. In Lia's own words: "Looked like a robot took a dive in a field and just rolled with the results." Due to this, she is offered a chance to simply 'acquire' the Desert Badge since the loss rattled her and she was able to provide some interesting information about these shady-types. Naturally, her pride refuses to allow this, and she goes to challenge the Leader again the next day to earn it properly.
- Floyd and Lia earn their Desert Badges.
- Floyd and Vince spend a little time up at Mt. Moon, but little else happens that day.
- Vincent fights Gym Trainer Ayame and eeks out a win. Floyd and Lia later stumble across the scene. After being healed, Ayame bids the group farewell, expressing her hopes to see them again in the future at Saffron's Gym (even if she and Lia never formally met).
Day 5:
- The group heads for Mt. Moon. It's a harrowing journey, especially when Vince zones out about halfway through their journey, leaving Lia and Floyd to fend off hostile Wilds by themselves. As they near the end of their journey through the mountain, the group is accosted by a small group of Zubat and a Golbat! Lia ends up capturing the Golbat. To cap it all off, the group runs smack into what turns out to be an Ariados' web across the final side-tunnel. Seems that sneaky bitch from Viridian Forest who ran off Chef Peppers and robbed Vince in his Pokemon-induced sleep was haging out here, preying on lost trainers. She mockingly comments that if Floyd can get free (with or without aid), she'll let him go. If not, she's going to let her spider pokemon eat him. The group doesn't take kindly to this, and Vincent taunts her into taking them all on in a straight fight. In a long, drawn out battle, the trio's teams of six managed to outlast Valisilwen's team of four. Despite this, she woke up first (having been knocked out first), and kicked Vincent once more in the gut as she limped away from the battlefield.
- This concludes Day 5.
Day 6:
- While Lia has to take it easy (again) after the trials of Mt. Moon, she is still able to get some Pokemon fighting in.
- There are no really notable fights this day.
- The terrible trio come across an odd local girl named Maxine training with her Pancham outside of the Pokemon Center. Introductions all around.
Day 7:
- Floyd is the first to enter Cerulean Gym, where the current female receptionist blushes furiously upon seeing him. Naturally, he's completely oblivious to the fact she finds him attractive, and just wants to take the Gym Challenge.
- Lia enters the Gym not long after Floyd and receives a similar reaction. Maybe she's just shy and awkward around new people? In which case, receptionist probably isn't a good job for her. Ah well. Lia may not be as oblivious as Floyd, but she doesn't get the unspoken message either.
- Maxine found some guy out in the wilderness appraising his (apparently stolen) loot. He fights her with a Trubbish and a Koffing, the latter of which blows up by his command in an attempt to take her out with him. The plan succeeds, but her Remoraid was out of range of the blast when it went off, technically granting her the victory. When she later comes to, she tries to get her Remoraid to go to town for help. While it floats off just as quickly as it can, a teal-haired humanoid Pokemon (looking through the 'Dex later revealed it was a different-colored Gardevoir) wordlessly teleports her, the burglar, and all of their fainted/recalled Pokemon to Cerulean's Pokemon Center. It then drops Remoraid off in Maxine's lap.
- Vincent torched some poor kid's PokéBot, causing him to go on a rant about how expensive it was, and how Vincent turned it into useless slag. Despite this, he gathers up the remains and scurries off in a huff. Despite this, Vince heads back over to the Gym. At some point during the day, the receptionist on duty changed, and Vince encounters one who just seems bored and is going through the motions.
- Both Lia and Vince manage to win the Maelstrom Badge from Aleisandra. Lia even scored a part-time job out of the deal when she impressed the Leader with her skill. Floyd, unfortunately, does not get his second badge on the first try.
Day 8:
- Lia gets inducted as an official Cerulean Gym Trainer by facing 'Valuk', Aleisandra's original starter Pokemon; a Blastoise capable of Mega Evolution.
- Floyd gets crushed at the Gym again.
- Vincent receives word thorough a seemingly entranced young girl that his friend, Bug Catcher Dan, has been kidnapped, and he must come alone to the woods on Route 25 or Dan will be killed. He doesn't return that night.
Day 9:
- Lia has a minor fit of rage at Vincent's 'stupidity' when she discovers his message from the previous day. The group resolves to head out there to find and rescue Vince and Dan; or, well, Lia and Floyd do. Maxine instead tries to get the authorities involved. While Gym Leader Aleisandra probably would have believed her (as she's Lia's friend), the Gym is closed today with the Leader currently unreachable (it's her day off, apparently). Instead, she is forced to convince the local police to help her out. Reluctantly, they do so.
- Vincent, meanwhile, awakens in a strange room, wearing equally strange clothing. Oddly though, none of his posessions are missing. His mind is kinda fuzzy though, and he eventually finds himself in a grandiose palace, standing before a young woman who introduces herself as 'Ithilmia, Queen of the Seelie Fae', and learns that this place is called "Sildëyuir". Oh, she also claims that he is now her servant (willing or not) and she is his Queen. He attempts to convince this 'Queen' to allow him and Dan (and any other mind-controlled servants) to leave. It doesn't work, naturally, and she merely brushes off his request, countering it with an ultimatum: serve willingly, and retain some modicum of freedom, or be forced into servitude and lose yourself forever. Deciding to play it safe/smart, he chooses the former, silently believing that Floyd and Lia will make it out to this place and be able to help him effect his and Dan's escape.
- Maxine, meanwhile, managed to get the police force to assign a few officers to go with her to investigate this supposed kidnapping. They make their way out to the woods, only to realize nobody has a Pokemon with tracking capabilities on hand. Maxine's group is forced to wait longer while one of the officers leaves the woods to radio the station for someone who has a tracker. Unfortunatley, this too proves fruitless, as the station's only Growlithe isn't quite able to pick up a trail to follow.
- Lia and Floyd are ambushed by a literal swarm of Spinarak while trying to find Vince's trail. They beat most of them up, forcing the rest to flee. After some discussion, the two agree to head back towards Route 25 and Cerulean City, where they bump into Maxine's group. Between the police Growlithe and Lia's Girafarig, they eventually find Vince's day-old trail leading deeper into the woods. At this point, they are ambushed by a group of Cottonee that descend from the treetops, spraying the group with cotton spores to slow them down while they drain the energy from them.
- Meanwhile, Vincent finishes his first 'day' as a lesser servant of this strange, eternally sunlit world.
- After another drawn out battle with the Cottonee, Maxine managed to catch one of them and convinced it to open the way to Vince's location. It reluctantly does so, but stepping through the 'fairy portal' results in several magical alarms going off and the Queen's voice echoing across the city, shouting for her guards to apprehend the intruders. Vincent hears this, knowing that the cavalry has finally arrived, and makes his way towards them. He aids them in dealing with the first set of guards, then leads them to a special 'healing font' that is able to get the unconscious Lia and Maxine back on their feet. Vincent is still convinced that everyone here except him is brainwashed by the Queen.
- After some time, the group manages to reach the steps to the palace, which is, naturally, where the highest concentration of guards are. A pink-haired girl tries to convince them to leave, stating that they won't be followed if they just leave now. Of course, they can't do that, so it eventually comes to another fight. Mainly because of Lia cussing out the guards. And the spokesgirl. And the Queen. And... well, you get the idea.
- It's at this point that Maxine declares that Lia and Co are all 'determined to die here' and flees the scene, taking advantage of the 'start of combat chaos' (and the spokesgirl's offer to leave peacefully). She makes it all the way back to the Route 25 side of the portal and waits, certain that the others will be right behind her. When they don't, her conscience eventually gets the better of her and she makes a beeline for the battlefield once again.
- After a drawn out fight with some 'Elite/Palace Guards', the party makes it inside the Palace, where they are promptly dismantled by the 'spokesgirl' (who turns out to be a Rune Master - a person with special abilities surrounding the pokemon Unown), a mind-controlled Dan, and the well-prepared Fairy Queen. It is only due to the intervention of the Queen's newly-awoken, pissed off older sister that they got out of their with their hides (relatively) intact. She uses a giant scythe to literally *rip open* a portal right there in the throne room and tosses each and every outsider through. Dan, the party, the film crew, everyone. It's unknown what happened in the throne room after that.
- There is an investigation launched by the local police department into the area, and even Elite Four member Anya Tassos (the same surname the 'Fairy Queen' gave to Vincent) came out to aid in it. She came back from the woods after only a few hours, stating with absolute confidence that there would be no more kidnappings from these 'fairy world' inhabitants.
Day 10:
- Things begin to return to normal. Right down to Lia spending a day in the hospital again. Hooray! Old hat!
- Floyd challenges the Gym for a 3rd time. He finally succeeds in earning his Maelstrom Badge.
- Lia storms down to Saffron in a huff, determined to annihilate the Fighting Gym with her Psychic-Types to soothe her rage. She spends the night there when she realizes its closed for the evening.
- Maxine attemps the Gym, but is defeated by Gym Trainers.
Day 11:
- Lia sets out to do what she had planned the previous day: Demolish Saffron's Gym to make herself feel better. It doesn't go as planned. She only has two badges, and, while there are no rules in place stating she must have more than that, she is cautioned that most who challenge this Gym have four or five already. The Gym Official that Lia speaks to decides to test her worthiness, stating if Lia can beat just one of her Pokemon, she can challenge the regular circuit of Gym Trainers and possibly reach the Leader. Flare, her Swoobat, gets destroyed by the 'tester', forcing her to retreat until she gets stronger.
- Maxine re-attempts the Gym Challenge, then leaves the party, gifting Lia with a Tropius Egg.
- The highlight of Lia's day is when she takes on a Huntail by herself and wins.
- Vincent fights an Aerodactyl, but isn't able to catch it until Floyd happens along, at which point he just KOs the darn thing, then revives it and catches it while it's disoriented.
Day 12:
- Kaeda Starwood arrives in Cerulean City. She and Lia don't like each other.
- Kaeda joins the party.
- Lia resumes her job as Cerulean Gym Trainer while the newly formed trio of Vincent, Floyd, and Kaeda make their way towards Rock Tunnel.
- Down on level 2 of Rock Tunnel, the group bumped into a strange-looking, slightly-larger-than-average Sableye-like creature. It scurried away through a tiny hole in the wall before they could catch up to it. Shortly thereafter, the party encounters a group of Pokemon Rangers, who are there checking up on the Wilds that live in the cave, ensuring no populations are in danger or growing too rapidly. They are also on the lookout for new species of Pokemon that may have taken up residence within the cave system in the year since the last inspection. They enlist the group's aid in finding out more about these 'giant/mutant Sableye' that the party encountered. Naturally, the group agrees to try and get a picture of one or find their lair (since the Rangers would prefer to study the Pokemon in its natural habitat).
- On the lowest level of Rock Tunnel, the group is beaten up by a combo of fossil Pokemon, Lileep and Cranidos. They are forced to retreat back to the Ranger Camp. The rangers escort them out of Rock Tunnel and back to the nearby Pokemon Center for proper medical care.
Day 13:
- Hilarity ensues at the Rock Tunnel Pokemon Center. Hilarity that almost gets them all thrown out for being too rowdy/arrested for disorderly conduct.
- Backstories are shared! Things are learned! The group bonds more.
- The newly bonded group heads back into Rock Tunnel and makes their way (slowly) back down to level 3. At this point, they come across a strange campsite that seems unoccupied at first glance. Not wanting to surprise anyone, they call out, which draws the attention of the camp's occupant, D'Mara of the Elite Four. Seems she is down here on personal business. She mentions that she is researching Dark Types, as she explains to the group how deadly this place can be. Turns out the Rangers mentioned their run-in with the 'possibly related to Sableye' thing the previous day. She queries whether or not they've seen such a thing, causing Kaeda to get defensive.
- A pissed-off Kaeda gets into a small argument with D'Mara and attempts to read her mind to learn some juicy secrets. Her plan backfires horribly, as she becomes trapped in an elaborate mental illusion that causes her to beleive that she is trapped within D'Mara's mind, and can't get her own body to respond to her. She is caught as if in a steel trap, as D'Mara holds a mental conversation with her, mocking her for her inability to 'escape'. Meanwhile, Lia gets flustered that she wasn't informed about this (albeit brief) encounter with a super-awesome giant sableye. It's at this point that Floyd, in an attempt at humor, requests the 'campsite owner's' name, which she happily gives. Naturally, this causes Floyd to immediately straighten up and show a bit more respect (not that he was disrespectful before).
- Mind-snared Kaeda hears the introduction as well, and grows ever-more frightened, stuck as she is within an infinitely looping maze inside D'Mara's mind. Finally realizing that Kaeda has been silent for far too long, first Floyd (though with as much politeness as he can muster) and then Orpheus, Kaeda's Kirlia, attempt to get D'Mara to stop 'harming' Kaeda. D'Mara reveals Kaeda's telepathic abilities to the group as she claims she has done absolutely nothing to Kaeda, and that she merely 'stopped responding after trying to read my mind'.
- With Scier (Lia's Chimecho) and some taunting from Lia to boost her, Kaeda finally realizes she's been duped. Just like adunce Lia. D'Mara mocks Kaeda's foolishness, claiming that her own pride and arrogance are what trapped her within that illusion, and that she, in truth, could have ended this at any time had she only realized it. Reeling from this revelation, Kaeda quickly backtracks, trying to recover some of her shattered pride. D'Mara only smiles in return, having gotten what she wanted in the end.
- The party faces the 'Sykata', as well as an unknown "boss" version of Sykata. On the way back up and out of Rock Tunnel, the party stumbled into a group of hostile Pupitar. The party rests up in Lavender Town, tended to by a Nurse Jasmine.
Day 14:
- First order of business for the day was showing off newly evolved companions, then getting some trades in. After this, everyone decides to check out "Mr. Fuji's Adoption Center", hoping to give some unwanted Pokemon a new home.
- Vincent gives Lia his Aerodactyl to use as transportation for her job when she gets her flight license.
- Lia ends up adopting a Croagunk that was pushed out of its original home by shrinking territory and getting bullied by bigger pokemon.
- Kaeda adopts a Tyrogue, on the condition that she allow personnel to review its condition in her care in two months-time.
- Floyd ends up adopting a poor, depressed Eevee named 'Alisa', and helps to get her out of her funk from the loss of her former partner and friend.
- Vincent finds himself the target of a Dunsparce's attempts to get adopted, though he does find a Scraggy along the way to adopt. He (reluctantly) takes the Dunsparce with as well.
- Lia and Kaeda bump into Valisilwen for the second time and get into an insult fight, which devolves into an all-out brawl on the streets of Lavender Town. Floyd and Vincent happen upon the scene and get involved as well. This leads to the entire party (plus Vali) being arrested and fined for damages to the now-ancient Pokemon Tower.

Just like a
- The party faces the 'Sykata', as well as an unknown "boss" version of Sykata.
